Something Extraordinary

A little girl sits in her room, listening to records. She's in her own little world. A world not particularly happy or sad, just her own.

Occasionally, she goes outside to the backyard. There's really no one to talk to. Again, she exists in her own little world, hoping for something extraordinary.

It's a warm day in Fort Worth. The air is still and time seems slower than usual. A little boy walks down a neighborhood sidewalk, humming an unfamiliar tune.

He's in his own little world, hoping for something extraordinary.

As the little boy walks and hums, he trips over a rock and nearly falls to the ground. He gathers his feet and quickly looks around to see if anyone noticed.

That's when he sees something extraordinary. Through the window of a house, a little girl sits in her room, listening to records.

The little boy stands there with his head cocked, staring at this little girl. Wondering what her life is like. Wondering what her friends are like.

You see, the little boy has no friends. But neither does the little girl. They both live in there own little worlds, day after day after day.

As the little boy watches, she finally notices and gives a faint smile.

The little boy slowly raises his hand and quickly waves at her. She waves back.

They both watch each other, smiling.

And for a brief moment, they are able to share their little worlds.
